Palin, fjölmiðlar og Washington elítan

Í ræðunni stillti hún sér upp sem eintaki af hinum "venjulegan Bandaríkjamann" og skaut skotum að fjölmiðlum og umfjöllun þeirra undanfarið og því sem hún kallaði Washington elítan.

"...she dismissed critics of her background as snobs who looked down on ordinary Americans and their concerns.

“I’m not a member of the permanent political establishment,” Palin said. “And I’ve learned quickly these past few days that if you’re not a member in good standing of the Washington elite, then some in the media consider a candidate unqualified for that reason alone.

“But here’s a little news flash for all those reporters and commentators: I’m not going to Washington to seek their good opinion,” she said. “I’m going to Washington to serve the people of this country.”

Demokrötum þótti lítið til ræðunnar koma.   Ágætlega flutt en almennt séð hefði hún verið ósköp svipuð og ræður Bush síðust árin. (Enda ræðuhöfundur Palin sá sami og fyrir Bush)

“The speech that Governor Palin gave was well delivered, but it was written by George Bush's speechwriter and sounds exactly like the same divisive, partisan attacks we’ve heard from George Bush for the last eight years,” the campaign said in a statement.

Það er alveg spurning hvernig þetta þróast.  Ljóst er að Repúblikanar hafa fengið nóg af gagnrýni á varaforsetaefnið og allrahanda sögum sem virðast engan enda ætla að taka. 

Það nýjasta er frétt um að McCain deildin hóti  National Enquirer lögsókn vegna umfjöllunar þeirra:

"ST. PAUL, MINN.) – John McCain’s campaign threatened legal action against the National Enquirer today for running a story about McCain’s running mate, Sarah Palin, allegedly having an affair with her husband’s business partner.

“The smearing of the Palin family must end. The allegations contained on the cover of the National Enquirer insinuating that Gov. Palin had an extramarital affair are categorically false. It is a vicious lie,” said McCain senior adviser Steve Schmidt."
